 Attempts to address bony abnormalities encountered at the time of both primary and revision THA and assess severity.  Abnormalities will influence replacement components and techniques.

1Segmental defects that involve loss of the supportive femoral cortical shell
2Cavitary defects that involve loss of cancellous bone with an intact cortex

Combined segmental-cavitary defects
4
Femoral malalignment (either angular or rotational)
5
Femoral stenosis where there is narrowing or obliteration of the femoral canal
6
Femoral discontinuity (secondary to fracture with or without an implant present)
